Looking Ahead
Van der Aa will travel to Italy in October 2007 for a performance of Mask at the Venice Biennale (musikFabrik, 10 October), and will give masterclasses at the Festival Spazio Musica in Cagliari (Sardinia). The festival also includes performances of Mask and Quadrivial.
Van der Aa is working on a new song cycle for mezzo-soprano, orchestra and soundtrack, commissioned by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestre Nationale de France and the NDR Orchestra in Hamburg. The Dutch mezzo Christianne Stotijn will be the soloist. The work's premiere is scheduled for the 2008/2009 season.

Spring/Summer 2007
 In April/May 2007 Van der Aa was a featured composer at the Tura New Music Festival in Perth, Australia. Among his works performed were the Here trilogy, Auburn, Just Before, Quadrivial and the film Passage. He also gave the keynote address on After Life.
On 1 June Deutsche Oper Berlin organised a lecture about Van der Aa's opera After Life, Passage and Wake were also performed.
Van der Aa took part in the Lincoln Center Theater Director's Lab, an intensive course in stage direction, in June 2007. Workshop leaders included Richard Eyre, Ron van Lieu and Michael Miller. A four minute video trailer of Van der Aa's acclaimed opera After Life has been added, as well as interviews with New York Public Radio and the French Mezzo TV channel. In addition to this all video excerpts are now also available in the Windows Media format.
